I am a freelance writer and socialist activist presently living in Indiana. I have been a socialist activist since 1965, and have published extensively in many left journals, including In These Times, Political Affairs, Against the Current, Socialism and Democracy, Dialogue & Initiative, and Monthly Review, just to name a few. My activities in the anti-Vietnam War Movement at Michigan State University are chronicled in the history of that Movement at non-elite campuses, Ken Heineman's Campus Wars (NYU Press, 1993), which I reviewed as a revier-participant in the February 1994 Monthly Review. I studied mathematics and Chinese history and language at Michigan State, and graduated with a degree in economics from Indiana University-Bloomington. I also write and publish extensively on blues and other pop music, and write and publish poetry as well, what I call "manifestoes in verse." I am, further, an actively militant atheist, ex-Catholic, and iconoclast who chafes under arbitrary authority of any type, even that of the left. I think for myself--period.
